Accessibility Statement

The Equality Tribunal recognises the importance of ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone.  We are committed to achieving a minimum of conformance level Double A with the WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and to comply with the NDA’s IT Accessibility Guidelines.

The Equality Tribunal is in the process of making considerable efforts to improve the accessibility of our website.  This includes focusing on accessibility and usability.  We intend to carry out modification to our homepage and to many pages on the website, including our most popular leaflets and guides.  This work will be continuing on an on-going basis.

We are aware that there are many sections of the website which currently are not fully accessible to all users.  Some of the information on the website is provided in PDF format to enable easier reading and printing of documents.  Newer PDF documents are being created in accessible PDF format but many of the documents on site pre-date that particular format.  If you have difficulty with format of a particular document, and require information in an alternative format, please let us know and we will provide a more accessible version. Requests should be forwarded to martinkehoe@equalitytribunal.ie

A redesign of the website is in progress to improve the quality of service for all visitors to the website, and achieve full compliance with the WCAG AA guidelines.  This redesign is due to be completed in 2010.  As part of this redesign, we intend to further improve the accessibility of the site by:

  • Providing guidelines to ensure that all new content published to the website is fully accessible.  The guidelines will address issues such as creating user-friendly content, accessibly link phrases and accessible documents
  • Reducing reliance on PDF for publishing documents online
  • Ensuring that provision of information and services are based on a customer-focused model
  • Carrying out an annual accessibility review and addressing any issues arising

The Equality Tribunal is committed to maintaining and monitoring the accessibility of this website.  As part of the process, we welcome comments, suggestions and details of problems encountered by users.   Please email martinkehoe@equalitytribunal.ie
